Hair loss is quite common among men since two-thirds of men worldwide suffer from male pattern baldness. 40% of men will experience visible hair loss when they reach 35 years. If you don't know how to prevent hair loss, there are several things you can do to manage the condition.
Don't just go for any medication out there since only two types of hair loss drugs are clinically tested and proven to be effective hair loss prevention medication. They include finasteride and minoxidil. The dihydrotestosterone hormone, also called DHT, which is responsible for hair loss by causing the hair follicles to shrink and fall out, is inhibited by finasteride. Minoxidil, on the other hand, is used to increase nutrients intake and blood flow to the hair follicles. However, this may lead to adverse side effects. Finasteride can cause erectile dysfunction and reduce libido in 1 in 31 men. Minoxidil may lead to allergic reactions or skin irritation.
Another pointer on how to prevent hair loss is using laser comb treatments. Laser treatment is another hair loss treatment that received FDA approval, besides finasteride and minoxidil. Medications and laser combs are not found in the NHS in the UK. In 2014, a study was done where 103 male hair loss patients who underwent the laser comb treatment across the scalp three times a week for 26 weeks increased their hair density. It is not clear how the combing treatment worked, but it seems like there was an antioxidant effect on the hair follicles from low-power lasers.
Gels and other hair styling products may lead to hair loss, and there is evidence to support this fact. The chemicals that these products are made from getting inside the scalp and stay trapped in the hair follicles. This prevents hair from coming out of the scalp's surface. To prevent hair loss, use more natural hair styling products while avoiding excess hair gels which have excess chemicals.

Washing the scalp with very hot water may damage it since it strips essential oils that are meant to protect the scalp. This causes dryness and inflammation. It has not been proven that very hot showers cause hair loss, but the theory behind it is that hair follicle miniaturization, and thinning hair is caused by scalp inflammation.
If you don't know how to prevent hair loss, the main culprit behind hair loss is the DHT hormone. You can counter its effect by washing your scalp with anti-DHT shampoos. Preventing hair loss requires shampoo products that contain 1-2% ketoconazole, which prevents testosterone from turning into DHT. Such shampoos work the same way as the finasteride medication. Shampoos with ketoconazole don't have erectile dysfunction side effects, which finasteride has because it is only restricted to the scalp.
Studies do suggest that massaging the scalp improves blood circulation to the hair follicles and scalp, which increases hair density. Scalp massaging also increases gene activity that contributes to hair growth. Stress levels are also lowered through massages, which is also known for causing hair loss.
If your hair loss condition is quite extensive, the best way to prevent hair loss and solve the problem is through a hair transplant procedure. A person with full hair in the scalp and has not suffered from hair loss has about 100,000 hair strands. You need at least 25,000 hair strands to make your head spear have full hair.
Hair transplantation involves removing healthy hair from a region that is not affected by DHT and transplanting it to the balding site. Although there are several hair transplant techniques, the latest and the most effective method is using stem cells to stimulate hair growth in the donor area to allow doctors to repeat hair transplantation if necessary. These are the various ways on how to stop balding.
