Follicular Unit Extraction has become very popular in hair transplant surgery and many of our patients specifically request it during their free consultation. But many patients do want to know when they can go back to work - and what their scalp is going to look like after the FUE procedure. Right after the FUE procedure, there will be small red dots in the recipient and donor area where the follicular units were extracted (left photo). Then, as the hair grows in, the tiny dots begin to heal and become undetectable (right photo).

Before and After FUE Hair Transplant: Main Benefits

This is one of the main benefits of follicular unit extraction and probably one of the reasons why it is so popular. There is no linear scar on the back of the scalp and the small holes where the follicular units are extracted as well as the area where they are transplanted heals in a way that the scarring is virtually undetectable. Keep in mind that your scalp will experience some inflammation and redness immediately after the procedure - but patients are pleasantly surprised when they realize how quickly the scalp heals from follicular unit extraction.
