At our Los Angeles hair restoration clinic, our patients are unnecessarily nervous before the surgery and pleasantly surprised afterwards. A natural hair transplant is the goal – Allow us to explain…
The pain and discomfort of a hair restoration procedure is minimal compared to a routine cavity filling at your dentist’s office. No matter how many times we say it, in all the different ways it can be said, patients are still expecting a painful experience. This is understandable since it’s common to equate “surgery” with “pain”. Yes, hair restoration is a surgical procedure. No, it’s not something that is going to keep you bed-ridden for two weeks. Some patients tell us they go back to a normal routine in as few as three days.
The reason you feel zero to no pain during the hair transplant procedure: local anesthesia injected into the area. This is the ONLY time you will feel pain, and the needle is so thin the pain is described by our patients as a level 2, where 1 is no pain and 10 is extreme pain. Once the local anesthesia is injected, you will have absolutely no feeling during the entirety of the surgery.
So often our patients are pleasantly surprised to discover they had no reason to be nervous, and feel a sense of relief that it was virtually painless. The pain after the procedure is so minimal and is more pressure than any other sensation. So, when you go in for your hair transplant procedure, “Don’t be nervous!” It’s going to be practically painless. Our team approach to hair restoration to the procedure is just one reason.
