PRP aids in rapid healing because it contains an increased platelet concentration than what would regularly be found in the blood. The platelets brim with growth factors and healing elements.
How is the PRP obtained?
Physicians draw blood from the patient. The blood is then placed in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from other components. When the blood has been centrifuged, you are left with a yellowish solution, which is the the platelet rich plasma. The PRP and the growth factors that it contains can then be utilized in numerous forms to enhance hair transplant results. It can be added topically where the hair follicles are transplanted to decrease the amount of bruising and bleeding, to minimize shock hair loss, and to speed the healing meaning the patient will look better sooner after the procedure. It can also be injected into the site of each transplanted hair follicle prompting the injured tissue to repair itself immediately. The PRP stimulates inactive or recently transplanted hair follicles into an active growth phase maximizing and speeding up the percentage of transplanted hair growth as well as containing scarring to a nadir.
