With FUE, we are able to extract fol­lic­u­lar units on an indi­vid­ual basis from the donor area with out the need for a scalpel and most impor­tantly: No lin­ear scar. FUE hair trans­plan­ta­tion is a min­i­mally inva­sive pro­ce­dure designed to heal more quickly and allows for the patient to have less post-operative restrictions.

Fol­lic­u­lar unit extrac­tion has sev­eral excit­ing ben­e­fits for peo­ple that like to wear very short hair due to no lin­ear scar. This fol­lic­u­lar unit extrac­tion hair trans­plant tech­nique gives the sur­geon another option for the extrac­tion of the per­ma­nent donor fol­li­cles from the scalp. This inno­v­a­tive tech­nique requires sig­nif­i­cantly more time and it is a tedious process for the sur­geon and the sur­gi­cal team due to the tiny lit­tle cir­cu­lar inci­sions they have to make to extract the donor hair pro­vid­ing less dis­com­fort as well as the ben­e­fit of becom­ing nearly invis­i­ble and healed within a mat­ter of days.

Although lin­ear har­vest­ing still remains the most cost effec­tive tech­nique for hair trans­plan­ta­tion, FUE is becom­ing widely pop­u­lar with a new break­through mechan­i­cal device, called NeoGraft. Fol­lic­u­lar unit extrac­tion cost is around $7 per graft. In the past, we were only able to har­vest between 500–700 grafts per day with FUE. Today, with the NeoGraft we are able to con­sis­tently har­vest 1500 plus grafts dur­ing a reg­u­lar pro­ce­dure day.
